JOAN MIRO Mambo 1977
This rare and exciting piece was created using a Color Wash, Etching, Aquatint and Carborundum; mixed media at its very best.
Miro has captured a culture in two pieces of art. Those being: ‘Creole Dancer’ and ‘Mambo’ and I am so very pleased to have both of these stellar works in our Portfolio of Excellence.
Miro’s ‘Mambo,’ by the way is a perfect partner to ‘Creole Dancer’ as it brings the Cajun lifestyle into the viewer’s consciousness. Voodoo rains supreme here and walks hand in hand with Black Magic. It is not often that we encounter art works that stimulate like ‘Mambo’ and ‘Creole Dancer.’
All of this excitement is laid down onto fine Arches etching paper and was published by Maeght in Paris. – M.J.
